Spanish Shawl Sticker

Spanish shawl nudibranchs have bright orange structures, called cerata, on their back. These structures serve two purposes in this species: facilitate breathing, or gas exchange, and to store stinging cells for defense. The stinging cells, or nematocysts, come from the nudibranchs' prey like sea anemones.
